Childcares on the Central Coast

Good Architect specialise in creating childcares and other community services buildings. Early learning spaces set children up for success and with a real shortage of childcare on the coast, we need more childcare centres here right now.  We love creating spaces for learning through play in collaboration with our talented landscape architects. The benefits of early learning are really clear and women deserve to be able to have rewarding career's too.

If you are a childcare centre or operator looking to expand get in contact. If you have a site you think would work let us know, we would love to bring people together to solve this shortage of childcare on the Central Coast.

What should I look for in a site to Create a Childcare Centre?

There are a couple of things to look for in a site to create a childcare on:

R1 General Residential, R2 Low Density Residential, R3 Medium Density Residential, R5 Large Lot Residential, E1 Local Centre, E2 Commercial Centre, E3 Productivity Support, C4 Environmental Living, Ru5 Village

Here is a guide to check your zoning, or you could submit your details for a free site assessment.

To be financially viable an early childcare centre generally has to have 80 children, to get an area this size a site area of around 3500m² for a one storey childcare can work really well, these are large sites so it may be a good idea to look at C4 Environmental zones to find these sites.

Check the bushfire and flooding maps, this may mean engaging a bushfire consultant to check what can be done on a site. Here is a guide to check for bushfire and one to check for flooding.

What is the DA Approval Process for a Childcare on the Central Coast?

Here are the steps you will need to take to get approval to build a childcare. There are two stages for the approval process: Development Application and Construction Certificate. Both need to be completed before building can start. Here is also our guide to childcare design which shows the requirements required in NSW and dimensions that should be used.

Part A - Pre-DA

Before lodging the DA it is a good idea to talk to council to see if what you are thinking of is viable or has any issues that need to be resolved.

Part B - DA

After going to a pre-DA meeting with council and resolving any issues they bring up, its time to bring other consultants on board to create Development Application documents.

Part B - Apply for a CC

The consultants mentioned above have been good to work with in the past, we can't guarantee how your experience with them will go in the future though, it often depends on the person you are working with and what is happening with them as well. We have mentioned them only because our past experience with them has been positive, we cannot guarantee anyone else's will be.
